Damond was born in Palm Springs, Ca. on December 16, 1974. He was raised by his mother, a working Country and Western entertainer. His grandmother and sister are also singers/performers. At age two, Damond joined his mother on stage and performed for his first time during a concert outside Nashville that featured Buck Owens, "Little Jimmy" Dickens and Minnie Pearl. He spent his entire life on the road, covering 48 states by age 9. As a child he won countless amateur talent contests.
As an uninspired teen, Damond turned to punk, soul and metal. Some of his musical influences include(d) Janis Joplin, Prince, Mr. Bungle, Black Sabbath, and Jane's Addiction. A compulsive reader, he began writing heavily. He has completed dozens of poems, songs, works of fiction and two screenplays. He has formed countless bands across the U.S., and opened for a then unknown Mother Love Bone and Nirvana in the late 80's and early 90's at the Satyricon in Portland, OR..
At age 20, Damond did an about face and landed the leading role of Conrad Birdie in the large scale production of Bye Bye Birdie. He appeared in commercials, in print, on the news and on a variety show. He performed for 4 "sold-out" 2000 seat shows at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
For the past several years, Damond has worked with and toured with his band, Diet of Worms. The band has recorded 2 studio albums. Also, Damond mastered Intelligent Lighting design and toured as a Lighting Director. He's been all over Europe, Mexico, Canada and the U.S. both as a touring musician and as tech.
Damond possesses a four and a half octive vocal range. He currently resides just outside the Tampa Bay area in Central Florida.
Damond joined Savatage in March 2001, and made his on-stage debut April 19, 2001 at Jaxx, in Springfield, Virginia.
