Dear SavaFriends and Fans, In lieu of the recent tragic events that have gripped the world we have decided to postpone our upcoming European Tour. Savatage apologizes for any inconvenience that has been caused due to this, but feel it is the right and necessary move. Rumors...Rumors...Rumors... is the best way to describe things right now. With Savatage heading to Brazil next week and the second leg of the Poets and Madmen tour about to begin, new dates should be showing up pretty soon. All confirmed shows are listed on the tour page. Until the other "rumored" shows are confirmed to me... your guess is as good as mine. Now to address some of these "rumors..." It looks like "Members of Savatage" will be performing this coming Saturday night, August 11th, at The Green Parrot in Largo, FL. Info can be found at robrock.com. I don't know anything else about this "secret" show except what is posted there and what was hinted about in the latest message by Christopher Caffery in his corner. Symphony X will be supporting Savatage in Europe during the upcoming October shows. More rumors... It looks like Nevermore might be supporting Savatage during a short U.S.A. tour in September. Two unconfirmed dates have been listed in several places. One East Coast and one West Coast. Again these have not been confirmed by either band. |

SAVATAGE ANNOUNCES NEW SINGER AND GUITARIST NEW YORK/TAMPA, Fla. - Symphonic Rock band Savatage, which recorded its new album Poets & Madmen as a quartet, has returned to a six-piece with the announcement of a new vocalist and second guitarist. Florida musician Damond Jiniya joins the group as the new vocalist. "We found Damond by accident at a mutual friend’s house near my hometown in Florida," Oliva said. "When he opened his mouth to sing, we were all blown away." Former vocalist Zak Stevens left Savatage due to family commitments just prior to the recording of Poets & Madmen. Jack Frost will take on the duties of second guitarist, replacing Al Pitrelli, who now plays in Megadeth. Frost’s resume includes Seven Witches, Bronx Casket Co., Speeed, and Metalium. "We’ve been friends with Jack Frost for years and always felt that we had great chemistry," said founding member Jon Oliva. "So, when Al left, we thought he was perfect for the direction of the band." |

An update on the tour plans. The Poets and Madmen USA tour with special guests Fates Warning is now scheduled to kick off around April 20th. We should have some dates in the near future. We can now confirm two more European Festival shows that Savatage will appear at. They are 6/29/01 "Bang Your Head" festival in Germany and 7/1/01 Rockwave in Athens, Greece. More European dates will be announced within the next few days including several headlining dates.
The band is currently finishing up the selection process for their Guitar and Vocal positions. An official announcement is expected shortly.
I want to thank Jaysin Cimetta and Jacques Moch for new tab donations, including Commissar from Poets and Madmen.
Speaking of Commissar, it made it's debut on the European Pop Charts at # 88 two weeks ago. This was an amazing accomplishment for a "Heavy Metal" band to debut so high on the Pop Charts.
Some new information is available on the Limited Edition Poets and Madmen CD from SPV. The CD will contain all 11 new tracks as well as "Jesus Saves" Live (recorded 10/27/97 in Neu Isenburg, Germany) and a multimedia version of the Handful of Rain video. It will be packaged in a special box and will include a poster and stickers. The track "Stay With Me A While" has made the final cut on all releases including the American Nuclear Blast release. The bonus track on the NBA version will be Edge of Thorns out take "Shotgun Innocence." This was previously only available on European and Japanese releases.
Kathy Tijou has once again put something together for Criss Oliva's Birthday on April 3rd. You can read the announcement at the top of the page.

Welcome to the brand new savatage.com. We hope you like the new format. Special thanks goes to Joachim Weber & Marcel van den Brink who worked very hard with me on this project. Without them it would have never been done. As you will notice, there are no new MP3's. We have been asked not to include them yet by the record company. As soon as we can get them up, we will. For now, Commissar is available in Real Audio by going to the Multimedia Audio page. We are still very busy making sure everything works. We will update very soon. |

To clear up a few things about the new album. Poets and Madmen will have 10 songs on it (11 including the Bonus track on the German limited edition). The tracklist is as follows:
1. There in the Silence There is no title track on the CD. All other songs that were recorded did not make the final cut. Statements made that the album would be longer and include more songs on it were made before any final decisions were made on the tracklist. An advertisement for Poets and Madmen can be found here. It includes a scan of the new artwork. The USA release will be April 3rd. A note about the FAQ on this site. The FAQ is not maintained by me at the present time. All info found there has been collected by Brian Reichow, who currently does the FAQ for this site. It is not updated on a frequent basis. This will change when we change over to the new site, which will be within the next month. |
