NEW YORK - Savatage has begun its tour in support of "Poets and Madmen" with a bang, playing in front of sold-out audiences and winning praise for its two latest additions, singer Damond Jiniya and guitarist Jack Frost. described Jiniya as "a frontman whose stage presence is as dramatic as the bandís music. The way Jiniya and (Jon) Oliva complement each other on stage, itís scary to think that this is only the groupís first show with the new line-up.

"Weíre really happy with the way the tour has started off," said Oliva. "Weíve been busy working on the new album and itís been a few years since weíve toured. Itís great to see that everyone is still supporting us and has reacted so incredibly to Damond and Jack."

Added Jiniya: "This is like a dream come true. Not only have I had the opportunity to join a great band but the fans have been so kind and accepting of me. Itís incredible that I just joined the band and Iíve already had the opportunity to play sold-out shows with them."

Savatageís current tour takes the band up and down the Eastern Seaboard, and into parts of the Midwest and Southwest, this current leg winds up in Europe with a string of shows opening for metal legends Judas Priest. More dates covering the rest of the country are to be announced. "Poets and Madmen" was released April 17 on Nuclear Blast Records.
