Geeze, spme people just can't wait to jump down peoples throats.
Dude, you'r flairing like a pack of hemaroids-JB.
Pardon me for not being a big Deep Purple fan. And if you read my
second statement, it says that I do remember the song, I even have
it on CD. I never accused them of selling out. I think covering the
song "Day After Day" on FFTR was more of a sell-out thing. Granted, they
had little control over that album.
If they were to cover something very well-known, then I consider it
an attempt to reach the masses by remakes. "Child in Time", as much as whoever
here loves it, it is not as popular with the targeted age group that buys rock
CD's today,15-24. Some of them have heard it, ofcourse. But, for Christ's sakes,
none of them were even born when the song was released. I know, I know, that doesn't
matter. We all know Elvis Presleys material and we born then either. There are
other Deep Purple songs that are more universally known. As good as "Child In Time"
may be, ask 10 random people, who don't have the CD, to hum the song and see what
If they were to cover, say, "Dream On", from Aerosmith, then I would question their
intention of what the purpose of incorporating that song.
