The way I've always seen it is, if you don't charge someone an exorbitant amount to make a copy of bootleg footage for them---and by that, I mean not charging more than your own out of pocket expenses---than it's okay. That way, sure, the band's not making any money off the tapes, but neither is the trader/seller. I've made a number of tapes for people in the past, mostly Savatage boots, also some hard-to-find TV episodes alot of people like. If it's someone I know well, I'll make the copies and cover postage and tape costs at my own expense. Even for a fellow fan, themost I've ever charge is the $5 or less it costs for a blank tape and shipping.
Anyway, I think it's ridiculous that there are traders out there who do charge $20+ for a bootleg tape, that is unfair to the band and to the fans purchasing it. In any case, I'm glad not everyone out there is like that!
