If you are interested in something along the lines of HOTMK, but perhaps a bit heavier in places, I whole-heartedly recommend the band Morgana Lefay. One of the best metal bands I've ever heard, and the vocals are very Oliva-like in places. I recommend you get their first and last studio albums, "Knowing Just As I" and "Maleficium".
You might also want to try Blind Guardian's "Nightfall in Middle Earth".
For a real treat with more symphonic/medieval touches than you'd ever think possible in the late 20th century, try Rhapsody's "Legendary Tales" and "Symphony of the Enchanted Lands".
And, for pure vocal joy in a prog metal vein, try Royal Hunt's "Paradox".
