Nevermind the fact that Savatage and Yngwie use guitars instead of violins - it's definitely got classical stylings. Don't believe me? Mozart's 25th Symphony is on DWD, Grieg's "In the Hall of the Mtn.King" is in "Prelude to Madness," and J.S. Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desire" is on tCA. There's more, I just can't think of them right now.

The thing that makes a certain genre of music sound the way it does has more to do with the arrangement of the notes and melodies and such than with what instruments are used. That's why Samuel Barbers "Addagio for Strings" still sounds classical even when performed by vocalists... and even if it WAS written in the late 19th, early 20th century.

My $0.02.

NP - Yngwie Johann Malmsteen - "Concerto Suite for Electric Guitar and Orchestra in E-flat Minor"
