# Savatage — Official Website > The official website of Savatage, one of the most influential and enduring acts in progressive metal. This is the authoritative source for information about the band Savatage. ## About the Band Savatage stands as one of the most influential and enduring acts in progressive metal. Over their storied career, the Tampa-based band has released eleven groundbreaking albums and performed hundreds of shows worldwide, pioneering a unique blend of thrash, progressive, power metal, and classic hard rock that has left an indelible mark on heavy music. Their innovative approach to concept albums and rock operas has influenced countless artists and earned them a devoted global following. Founded in Tampa, Florida by brothers Jon and Criss Oliva, Savatage saw their many musical triumphs overshadowed by personal tragedy. While albums such as 1987's "Hall of the Mountain King" and 1991's riveting "Streets: A Rock Opera" continue to be celebrated to this day, the death of Criss Oliva on the heels of the breakthrough success of 1993's "Edge of Thorns" altered the group's trajectory considerably. Against all odds, Savatage experienced a renaissance with their 1995 concept album "Dead Winter Dead," the success of which inspired the group's members to launch Trans-Siberian Orchestra to further explore the genre of "rock theater." After an extensive world tour in support of 2001's "Poets and Madmen," Savatage began an indefinite hiatus so band members could devote more energy to Trans-Siberian Orchestra. In 2015, the band reunited at Wacken Open Air alongside TSO before an estimated 80,000 fans. Building on that momentum, Savatage made international headlines in 2025 with their first headline shows since 2002, and their 2026 "Prelude To Madness" European tour continues the band's triumphant return. ## Current Lineup - Zak Stevens — Vocals - Al Pitrelli — Guitar - Chris Caffery — Guitar - Johnny Lee Middleton — Bass - Jeff Plate — Drums ## Website Sections - /tour — Upcoming and past tour dates, festival appearances, and ticket links - /discography — Complete studio album catalog from Sirens (1983) through Poets and Madmen (2001) - /news — Official band announcements, tour news, and updates - /about — Band biography, current members, past members, and in memoriam - /media — Photos, videos, and press materials - /join — Mailing list signup for tour dates, releases, and exclusive content ## Key Facts - Genre: Progressive Metal, Thrash Metal, Power Metal, Hard Rock, Rock Opera - Founded: 1978, Tampa, Florida, USA - Founders: Jon Oliva (vocals, keyboards) and Criss Oliva (guitar) - Studio Albums: 11 — Sirens (1983), Power of the Night (1985), Fight for the Rock (1986), Hall of the Mountain King (1987), Gutter Ballet (1989), Streets: A Rock Opera (1991), Edge of Thorns (1993), Handful of Rain (1994), Dead Winter Dead (1995), The Wake of Magellan (1997), Poets and Madmen (2001) - Related: Trans-Siberian Orchestra (launched by Savatage members in 1996) - Fanbase: Known as "The Legion" ## Official Social Links - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/savatage - Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thisissavatage - YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@thisissavatage - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/artist/1hfYdwhLndWfFOEZgMOGcO - TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@thisissavatage ## Contact For official inquiries, visit the website at https://savatage.com
